Scar Massage After Knee Replacement

by admin on December 10, 2011

I recently saw a client for the first time,  6 weeks after she had a knee replacement. Overall, she was doing well, except she said she had a pain at night that “felt like her knee was being cut in half, right down the middle”. She didn’t have any pain during the day.

The biggest problem I found was that her scar was very restricted. I performed a type of massage designed to get the scar to move side to side more freely. The scar was stuck to the bone below it. This massage made it so that the scar would move better side to side.

I happened to see her the next day. She said she had no pain overnight. She said, for the first time in a long time, she was able to get a good nights sleep.
